Bit of Ivory Meets Ghent: A Cupcake Adventure

Yesterday, Dawn emailed me to let me know some of my photos were up in the new Carolina Cupcakery Ghent location. I did excessive mini-claps and a mini-happy dance in my chair. If someone were around to watch, they would say I look like one of those cymbal-clambering monkeys sitting on a musical box. Well, hey, this is kind of a big thing! My work! Displayed in a very public area! Showcasing the very things I love!

I had a client meeting yesterday afternoon and some other errands to run, so it wasn't possible to drop everything and go. Patience is a virtue, I told myself. So what did I do? I waited a day, and I begged my BFF Elaine to make an adventure with me to Norfolk.

So in Elaine's new car (really, it just rolled off the dealership's lot this morning!), we rode in fancy red Ford Focus style all the way to Ghent. (P.S. Her car has the best new name in the world-- it is Red Velvet. And can be sung to the tune of Alannah Myles' Black Velvet, of course.)

We arrived at the corner of Colley Avenue and 21st Street to the gloriousness of the new Cupcakery, still in renovations. As we posed in front of the pink-papered windows, we had some onlookers with quizzical expressions from passing vehicles.

Don't worry, nothing to see here except some enthusiastic-for-cupcakes-and-photos young women who clearly have not a care in the world.

Pardon the quality of these photos. Forgive a girl who forgot her good ole camera at home and embrace the trusty purse point-and-shoot. :)

(I owe Elaine a cupcake for the lack of cupcakes... haha)

I can't wait until the grand opening!

  1. Congratulations Chelsea! You've worked so hard to get to this point.

Ps. I totally forgot there was one in Norfolk. Oh so much closer than Chesapeake for David and I!

Pss. I really love your shirt in that photo. LOL.

  2. Thanks so much, Dreama! :) Their Norfolk location is going to be the place to service the Northside of Hampton Roads, too! So your wedding cupcakes will be coming out of there... ;)

And Target is awesome; it's where I got the shirt. And Ann Taylor Loft for the sweater. :D
