Psyche: A Visual Modern Retelling

Last late October, I had this grand plan. A grand plan to retell my most favorite Greek myth of all-time: Psyche and Eros. I had fallen in love with the myth in middle school and voraciously read every retelling-- C.S. Lewis' Till We Have Faces in high school and even my own unfinished novella in college.

When the concept started forming, I wasn't quite sure how I would execute it. I knew it wouldn't be wedding-related, and that in of itself made me feel like a fish out of water! When the shoot happened, I freaked out in excitement. When the photos were edited, I freaked out again... but not necessarily in the good way. I froze. How was I going to present these photos? How would I adequately tell my most beloved story? Writer's block pummeled me. Badly. And then I just shelved the photos. There they sat on my desktop, reminding me of my stubborn idea of perfection.

Well, you see that it is now late May. And I'm not sure what happened, but a trigger just went off. "You don't need words." Here I planned I would write this eloquently poetic story... and then the big ole crazy NOPE happened.

So here I am... taking a deep breath, posting these without the written story I had planned, letting go, and allowing the images to breathe life into the myth retold.
