The Blog Has a New Bookcase!

In celebration of being in business for five years, I've moved the website and blog over to a brand spankin' new home on the web... and they are together at last! You'll find all new and future blog posts over there, and so it's a "see ya later" to this blog as it will be but an archived memory. :)

FEATURED | Limn and Lovely, Bayside Bride, and Le Magnifique

I'm pretty terrible at keeping up with features here on the blog. Eep, kind of embarrassed that it's been 10 months! :) (As a note, the Featured Photo-Fam album on Facebook is always up-to-date!) But I'm trying to get better at it, especially because I consider this blog my "business scrapbook" of sorts. It's personal, and I love documenting the stories and people I meet. :)

Now Presenting... The Photo-Fam Album, Vol. II.

I like books. I like photos. I like family. I like multi-purposed items.

It was only a matter of time before I started connecting the dots and realizing the new most ingenious idea to hit my brain.

What a better way to showcase album covers/samples than a purposeful and beautiful photo-fam album? SHAZAM!

So twice a year, there will be a new volume with new images of weddings and events from that part of the year. (I LOVE my photo-fam who have sessions with me, but sadly, these will be geared mainly towards weddings since there are fewer of them throughout the year.)

Some of these layouts are from couples' final album designs and some are new designs I created to showcase a few different other aspects specifically for this photo-fam album. :) Best of both worlds!

When couples meet with me, they will be able to see how I design my albums, what an album feels/smells like (oh my gosh, AH-mazing), and be able to be part of what's to come in their future with Bit of Ivory Photography. When I shoot a wedding, I shoot with albums in mind. A story to be told later. :)

[Volume II is a 10x10 lay-flat album with 10 spreads. You can find more information about the albums I use on the Albums post I wrote back in 2012.]

Heart + Soul : An Interactive Wedding Event

Up until a few months ago, I was super jealous of my UK friends. And no, it wasn't because of their claim to Jane Austen or Percy Pigs... though that's already common knowledge with me. ;) It was because they toted on about these incredibly unique bridal events. I saw them pop up everywhere on my newsfeeds. The kind where you can have more than 10-minute conversations with couples, where you can laugh and move around an open space, and was a little exclusive in size... overall, it was intimate, totally cool, and personable.

When I received a personal invite from Becky of Roost Flowers and Designs, I kinda had a geek-out moment. The moment where "OHMYGOSH! I'm asked to be part of something awesome!!" or "I finally get to be like my UK buddies! Ha!" :)

So I present to you... a curated, interactive wedding event happening here in Hampton Roads at MOCA with some very fabulous vendor friends with the similar vision of having a grand ole time with engaged couples. It'll be set up like a mock wedding (ahh, kinda like Orchestrated but for brides! haha) There are only 200 tickets available to help set the tone for the personable atmosphere, so anyone interested needs to snap one up soon! And when you snap one up, let me know! I wanna meet you! :)

Now presenting... the Guide to the Cloud.

It's been months in the making, and that little finagle-y thing called whoa-busy wedding season happened and so the website was put on hold. ;) But I'm finally excited to present the finished product!

With the influx of brides/grooms choosing the Cloud for their digital media format this year AND the fact that quite a few photo-fam members live out-of-town/out-of-state, I wanted to make sure wedding couples fell in love with the new technology and were excited by it, not confused and overwhelmed. Particularly if I'm not able to be there in person to go through the process. I know I would be very "eek" if I were handed new techie stuff without some sort of guidance!

No being thrown to the wolves here! Visuals and Step-by-Steps are here for ya! :) If you'd like to take a peek at the Cloud Guide, hop on over to learn more about how the Cloud works for Bit of Ivory brides and grooms!

Now presenting... the Photo-Fam Album, Volume I.

I like books. I like photos. I like family. I like multi-purposed items.

Whoa, hello, world!

I'm bacccckkk!

Blogging obviously took a standstill while I've gallivanted off to Italy and Greece for a most amazing business-vacation. Lots of updates are coming your way in the next week or two, but for now, here are bits and pieces of what to expect! :)

[Orchestrated Stylized Shoots' Vignettes, Vol. II is finally ready for showcasing!]

[Super cuteness at the Virginia Zoo!]

[Quite a few posts from our Italian adventures! P.S. This is my favorite adventure of all time... the Amalfi Coast.]

[The latest project is ready to be unveiled! The first volume of the new Photo-Fam Album.]

[A very special intimate ceremony of a beautiful bride, her dashing groom, and her handsome son. All around great times!]

Now presenting... the Big Ole Teal Wall.

It's been a long time coming! But the Big Ole Teal Wall is now finally making its photographic debut!

Those who have been around Bit of Ivory for awhile know I've been dreaming of teal, black, and white for as long as I could remember. I even started a Pinterest board way before a brick-and-mortar office space became a reality.

So when my office buddy Julie and I signed the lease and got permission to pretty it up, I set to work making my dream a reality. I had most of the furniture already from when my office was located in my home's sunroom, so the accents and details were the ones I needed to piece together.

You will remember from my New Office Transition blog post that I had a slew of amazing photo-fam who helped make this teal vision happen. Truly to this day, I wouldn't have even been close to succeeding without them.

Well, now months later, it is officially home and cozy. Every meeting, get-together, or just chit-chat, I am cheerfully greeted by the Big Ole Teal Wall, and it makes me happy. :)
